Anderssons at Ongava has undergone a total redesign with stunning new accommodation. The new enlarged rooms come with much needed air conditioning, making this more of an all-year around property.
Located on the edge of the Etosha National Park and inside the Ongava Private Reserve is a family friendly safari lodge offering superb accommodation and exceptional game viewing.Once a working farmstead the main building has been sympathetically converted into a safari lodge with a large shady verandah that overlooks a waterhole.
There is a small but welcome swimming pool close by which is always popular with children and a library, which is more popular with the adults! A sheltered walkway leads off to an underground hide, where guests can sit and watch animals drink at the flood lit watering hole.
Rooms at Andersson’s at Ongava
Each of the seven new guest suites comprise of en-suite facilities with a separate toilet, double indoor and outdoor showers, double vanity basin, air conditioning, tea and coffee-making facilities, hairdryer and electronic safe. During winter months when the temperature falls at night, cosy hot water bottles and extra blankets are provided. Each suite has a private viewing deck with a 180-degree views of the bush veld. There is a Family unit with two adjoining rooms.
Dining
Meals are served either in the dining room or outside where there are large fireplaces for those chilly ‘winter’ evenings. The food has a wonderful home-cooked feel, with fresh salads at lunch time and three course dinners. It is possible to stay on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis instead of the fully inclusive package, but this does include game drives and is recommended.
Game Viewing on the Ongava Reserve
Game drives are conducted on the same reserve as Ongava Lodge. The reserve is home to the Big 5 animals with both Black and White rhino. The vehicles have canvas roofs to shade from the sun, and carry refreshments for coffee or sun downers in the evening. There are plentiful sightings of lions.
There is a viewing hide located close to the main lodge building which can be accessed at anytime. The hide is built at eye level with animals that come to the water hole to drink. You can get spectacular images and really close to the rhino, lion, elephant and other game which frequent the water source.

Reviews
In our opinion:This lodge is more informal than the neighbouring Ongava Lodge and better suited to families, but facilities are more rustic. The new rooms are spacious and air conditioned with stunning views. We loved the food and the game viewing is every bit as good as paying more for staying at Ongava Main lodge.
